Narnaul,
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that the services of guest teachers working in government schools across the state cannot be regularised due to legal obligations. However, the state government is extending them special weightage for regular teachers’ appointment.

Khattar was interacting with mediapersons at the local PWD rest house after listening to public grievances at the Mini-Secretariat here today. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects costing Rs 87 crore.

“Yes, we had promised to regularise the services of guest teachers, but cannot fulfil it following the objection of the High Court over regularisation. We wanted to fulfil the promise, but legal obligations have restricted us,” said the CM.

He said special weightage was being given to guest teachers on the basis of their experience in interview for regular posts. Following this, a large number of guest teachers had already been taken into regular services, he claimed.

Meanwhile, Rajender Sharma, president, Haryana Atithi Adhyapak Sangh, said around 15,000 guest teachers had been working at government schools on the posts of PGT, TGT and PRT for several years. “The government can regularise our services under its regularisation policy of 10 years, as guest teachers fulfil all required conditions of the policy,” said Sharma, adding that teachers had been staging dharnas in various districts in support of their demand for regularisation.
