Manohar Lal inaugurates National Feeder Monitoring System Control Centre at REC HQ Gurugram
On the 55th Foundation Day of REC Limited, Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, inaugurated the National Feeder Monitoring System (NFMS) Control Centre at REC Headquarters in Gurugram on Thursday.
The NFMS, an ambitious project by the Ministry of Power, aims to provide real-time data on power supply, outages, and the overall status of approximately 2.5 lakh (250,000) 11 KV feeders across India. This initiative is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in power distribution, ultimately benefiting consumers with improved quality and reliability of electricity supply. The system integrates data from 87 distribution companies (DISCOMs), facilitating informed decision-making for stakeholders.
A dedicated control centre at the REC Corporate Office in Gurugram will monitor and disseminate daily findings to DISCOMs. This ensures the accuracy and efficiency of the NFMS portal data and helps DISCOMs maintain the necessary KPIs set by the Ministry.
During his speech, Minister Manohar Lal highlighted the importance of this technological advancement, saying, “This system stands as a testament to our commitment to improve power distribution and management across the country. I believe that this initiative will not only enhance the efficiency of our power grids but also ensure a more reliable and continuous power supply for our citizens. Together, let’s illuminate every home and empower every citizen with the light of progress and development.”
The control centre will use advanced technologies to collect, process, and display operational data, working closely with key stakeholders to maintain data integrity on the NFMS portal.
The NFMS, developed by RECPDCL, a subsidiary of REC Limited, aims to monitor power quality and reliability nationwide, striving for 24×7 continuous power supply.
In celebration of REC’s 55th Foundation Day, Minister Manohar Lal also participated in the #एक_पेड़_मां_के_नाम (#onePlant4Mother) campaign by planting trees at the REC office in Gurugram.
