MoU between Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and Indian Air Force will help in creating efficient logistics system”: Rajnath Singh
The Indian Air Force and Army have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a newly established central university specializing in transportation and logistics.
The agreement, inked in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, aims to improve the logistics expertise of military personnel. This collaboration is expected to contribute to key national initiatives, including the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022.
Defence Minister Singh emphasized the critical role of logistics in military operations and national security. “An efficient logistic system will quickly mobilize armed forces and help in transporting resources to the correct place within a short time,” Singh said. He added that the MoU would support India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in the defence sector.
Railways Minister Vaishnaw highlighted GSV’s industry-focused approach, stating that the university aims to ensure students have job offers by their third year. He also revealed a partnership with Airbus, which plans to recruit 15,000 engineers from the university.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials from both ministries, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Force Chief, Army Chief, Defence Secretary, and the Chairman of the Railway Board.
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, India’s first university dedicated to transportation and logistics, offers a unique educational model combining applied education, training, and research through experiential learning and close industry collaboration.
