Indian army contingent departs for India-Oman Joint Military Exercise Al Najah
An Indian Army contingent has departed for the fifth edition of the India-Oman Joint Military Exercise, Al Najah. Scheduled from September 13 to 26, the exercise will take place at the Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman.
In a press release, the Ministry of Defence said, “Exercise AL NAJAH has been held biennially since 2015, alternating between India and Oman. Last edition of the same exercise was conducted at Mahajan in Rajasthan.”
The Indian Army’s contingent comprises 60 personnel, including a battalion from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment and members from various arms and services. The Royal Army of Oman will also deploy 60 personnel, represented by troops from the Frontier Force.
The exercise will focus on operations in a desert environment, aiming to enhance the joint military capabilities of both nations for counter-terrorism operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
“The exercise will involve a range of tactical drills, including joint planning, cordon and search operations, fighting in built-up areas, establishment of mobile vehicle check posts, counter-drone operations, and room interventions. Additionally, combined field training exercises will simulate real-world counter-terrorism scenarios,” the release added.
