PM Modi to participate in International Abhidhamma Divas and Pali recognition ceremony

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the International Abhidhamma Divas celebration at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday. The event will also celebrate the recognition of Pali as a classical language by the Union government.

Abhidhamma Divas commemorates Lord Buddha’s descent from the celestial realm after delivering his teachings on the Abhidhamma, a core component of Buddhist philosophy.

The event, organized by the Government of India in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation, will bring together academicians, monks, and scholars from 14 countries. Additionally, young experts in Buddha Dhamma from various Indian universities will participate. This year’s celebration holds special significance due to the recognition of Pali—the language of Buddha’s teachings—as a classical language.
