Delhi’s air quality remains ‘poor’ with AQI at 224
The air quality in the national capital continued to be in the ‘poor’ category on Tuesday. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 224 at 8 am in Delhi. Some areas reported varying levels of air pollution, with ITO at 254, Alipur at 214, Chandni Chowk at 216, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 203.
A few locationss showed relatively better air quality, falling in the ‘moderate’ category. The AQI at Delhi Technological University (DTU) was 169, Lodhi Road 123, and Najafgarh 142.
An AQI between 0-50 is considered ‘good,’ 51-100 ‘satisfactory,’ 101-200 ‘moderate,’ 201-300 ‘poor,’ 301-400 ‘very poor,’ and 401-500 ‘severe.’
The Supreme Court recently allowed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to relax restrictions under GRAP Stage IV to Stage II, considering an improvement in air quality. Following this directive, the CAQM revoked Stages IV and III restrictions but maintained Stages II and I across the National Capital Region (NCR).
