Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Gujarat on March 7 and 8 to inaugurate several development projects and participate in initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare, boosting food security, and empowering women
During his visit to Silvassa on Friday, the prime minister will inaugurate the first phase of the NAMO Hospital, a 450-bed facility constructed at a cost of over Rs 460 crore. This hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region, particularly for the tribal communities, offering state-of-the-art medical care.
Later in the day, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Silvassa worth over Rs 2,580 crore. These projects include the construction of village roads, schools, health and wellness centers, Panchayat buildings, Anganwadi centers, and infrastructure for water supply and sewage systems. These projects are expected to improve connectivity, promote industrial growth, encourage tourism, and generate employment opportunities in the region, thus benefiting the local communities.
PM Modi will also distribute appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela and provide benefits to beneficiaries under various schemes such as the PM Awas Yojana (Urban), Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana, and the Sylvan Didi scheme.
The Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana focuses on the economic empowerment of women from Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), minorities, and Divyangjan communities by encouraging small dairy farming and driving social and economic change in their lives. The Sylvan Didi scheme aims to support women street vendors by providing them with specially designed carts, supported through the co-funding from the PM SVANIDHI scheme.
PM Modi will then travel to Surat, Gujarat, where he will launch the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign at Limbayat and distribute benefits under the National Food Security Act to over 2.3 lakh beneficiaries. This initiative is expected to improve access to food for the underprivileged population in the region, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring food security for all.
On March 8, which marks International Women’s Day, will see the prime minister participate in the Lakhpati Didi programme in Vansi Borsi village, Navsari district. He will interact with women known as ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and felicitate five of them with Lakhpati Didi Certificates. The Lakhpati Didi programme is designed to empower women by improving their livelihoods and financial independence.
On the same day, the prime minister will launch two significant initiatives in Gujarat aimed at supporting rural development and entrepreneurship. The G-SAFAL (Gujarat scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) programme will provide financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to women from Antyodaya families in the state’s Aspirational districts and Blocks. The G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income) programme will offer financial assistance and mentorship to rural startups, facilitating the creation of a favorable environment for livelihoods in rural areas.
