Supreme Court gets two new judges, oaths administered
The sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court is 34. After the appointment of these judges, the total number of judges in the Supreme Court has gone up to 32. There are still two vacancies for judges in the Supreme Court.
Two new judges took oaths at the Supreme Court today. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud administered the oath to both judges. Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan and Justice S Venkatanarayan Bhatti were among the judges who were sworn in.
President Draupadi Murmu had ordered the appointment of these two judges on July 12. On July 5, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of both as judges of the Supreme Court.
