Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of the valour of Indian Army’
The three armies are celebrating the completion of 24 years of victory in the Kargil war with Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also paid tribute to the bravehearts who laid down their lives for the country. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of the Armed Forces (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War by laying wreaths at the Kargil War Memorial.
Three Cheetal helicopters passed by and showered flower petals at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, Ladakh, at the tribute ceremony with military tradition. Four MiG 29 aircraft took off from the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Later, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War by laying a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, after paying homage to the brave soldiers at the Kargil War Memorial, said that today, on ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, I bow down to the brave sons of Mother India, who put the nation first and did not shy away from sacrificing their lives for it.
The Defence Minister said that the Kargil war was an imposed war on India. At that time, the country tried to resolve the issues through talks with Pakistan. Atalji himself had tried to solve other issues including Kashmir by visiting Pakistan, but Pakistan had stabbed us in the back.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with the family members of soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. He also handed him a memento and a shawl as a mark of respect. He visited the ‘Hut of Remembrance’ museum in Drass, built in memory of the bravehearts of the Kargil War.
Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary paid floral tributes at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Army Chief General Manoj Pandey paid floral tributes at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on Kargil Vijay Diwas. He said in one of his messages that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of the valour and determination of the Indian Army. Salute to all those bravehearts whose indomitable courage achieved this victory on this glorious day. The Indian Army is always dedicated to protecting the self-respect and sovereignty of the country.
The Indian Army said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a reminder of the intrepid bravery and courage of the bravehearts who wrote a golden chapter in history with their blood and sacrifice. He gave a befitting reply to the misadventure of the enemy and won a resounding victory for this country.
COAS General Manoj Pandey paid tributes to the bravehearts of the Kargil War at a grand function called Shaurya Sandhya’ at the Kargil War Memorial, Drass. Veer Nayaks, Veer Naris, and various civil and military dignitaries lit 559 lamps in honour of the bravehearts who laid down their lives.
General Pandey also felicitated the Kargil war veterans, heroic heroes, and family members of martyred heroes. She interacted with the Women Empowerment and Motorcycle Rally team and all other dignitaries present on this momentous occasion. The event also saw an enthralling performance by military bands and cultural performances showcasing the rich and diverse culture of Ladakh.
On the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Trishul Division and the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas, GOC Trishul Division paid homage to the bravehearts at Trishul War Memorial. A special cover of Trishul Division was also released during the event.
