Central govt is set to launch ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ an invoice incentive scheme to encourage the culture of customers asking for invoices and bills for all purchases. Centre in association with state governments, is launching this scheme on 1st September, 2023.
It is incentivizing the act of seeking a bill every time a purchase is made. This scheme is to encourage citizens and consumers to ask for genuine GST invoices from the seller when making business-to-consumer (B2C) purchases of goods or service.
This scheme will initially be launched as a pilot in the States of Assam, Gujarat & Haryana and UTs of Puducherry, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. This Pilot Scheme will run for a period of 12 months.
The invoice incentive scheme allows people to earn cash prizes on the upload of GST invoices.
People can get a cash prize ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 1 crore. The minimum purchase value for the invoice to be considered for the lucky draw is Rs 200, and individuals can upload a maximum of 25 invoices in a month beginning September 1. Winning invoices will be picked by a method of random draw at regular intervals.
All invoices issued by GST registered suppliers to consumers will be eligible for the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ scheme.
