Centre to launch Kisan Rin Portal & KCC campaign, know how they help you

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar are set to launch the ‘Kisan Rin Portal’ today, aimed at facilitating farmers in accessing subsidized loans through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) program. This event will also mark the launch of a door-to-door KCC campaign and an instructional guide for the Weather Information Network Data Systems (WINDS) portal, all taking place at the Pusa complex.

The Kisan Rin digital platform provides a comprehensive overview of farmer data, loan disbursement details, interest subvention claims, and the progress of scheme utilization. This platform aims to enhance coordination with banks to ensure more targeted and efficient agricultural credit. As of March 30, there were approximately 7.35 crore KCC accounts with a total sanctioned limit of Rs 8.85 lakh crore.

Official data reveals that the government disbursed agricultural credit amounting to Rs 6,573.50 crore at subsidized interest rates during the first five months of this fiscal year. To expand the reach of the KCC program, the door-to-door campaign will target non-KCC holders who are beneficiaries of the central scheme PM-KISAN, which provides Rs 6,000 annually to identified beneficiary farmers’ bank accounts.

Regarding the WIND portal, the ministry stated that the instructional manual will enhance the impact of the Weather Information Network Data Systems (WINDS) initiative.

The portal, which was launched in July, utilizes advanced weather data analytics to furnish stakeholders with actionable insights on weather conditions, enabling them to make well-informed decisions in the field of agriculture.
