PM Modi interacted virtually with Google CEO pichai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Google CEO Sundar Pichai through video conferencing on Monday. This meeting especially focused on promoting the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India, and PM Modi stressed that Google to work on Artificial Intelligence tools for good governance.
Google is preparing its AI service in 100 languages. Praising this initiative of Google, PM Modi encouraged the company to make AI tools available in Indian languages also. The Prime Minister welcomed Google’s plan to open a global FinTech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar.
UPI is used extensively for financial transactions in India. Google’s payment service GPay also allows transactions through UPI. Sundar Pichai informed PM Modi about Google’s plan to strengthen financial inclusion in India through UPI.
During the meeting, PM Modi interacted with Pichai and acknowledged Google’s partnership with HP to manufacture Chromebook laptops in India.
Pichai expressed Google’s commitment to the Prime Minister to contribute to India’s development. At the same time, the Prime Minister has also invited Google to contribute to the ‘Global Partnership on AI Summit’, which India will host in New Delhi in December 2023.
