Indian art exhibition debuts at National Museum of Oman

An impressive display of contemporary Indian painting masterpieces is set to grace the halls of the National Museum of Oman as an exhibition opened its doors this week. The exhibition, named “India on Canvas: Masterpieces of Modern Indian Painting,” showcases a curated collection of 20 works of art from the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in New Delhi. This artistic spectacle is the result of a collaborative effort between India and Oman and is likely to be embraced by art enthusiasts across the Sultanate.

The inauguration ceremony was graced with the presence of Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, who embarked on a two-day diplomatic visit to Oman. He officially opened the art exhibition, underscoring the significance of cultural exchange between the two nations. V. Muraleedharan commended both the Indian Embassy in Muscat and the NGMA in Delhi for their collaborative effort in bringing this exceptional exhibition to Oman. The unique artistic showcase aims to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations, celebrating the depth and variety of Indian artistry.

The selection of paintings includes pieces by renowned artists such as Raja Ravi Verma, Amrita Sher-Gill, and Nandalal Bose, each contributing to the rich tapestry of India’s art history. These masterpieces promise to provide a profound exploration of the captivating world of Indian art.
