Nation pays homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 76th death anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 76th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday, paying homage to the iconic leader. In a social media post on platform X, PM Modi expressed his reverence, stating, “I pay homage to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. I also pay homage to all those who have been martyred for our nation. Their sacrifices inspire us to serve the people and fulfill their vision for our nation.”
Mahatma Gandhi, a symbol of peace and a key figure in India’s struggle for independence, championed non-violent and peaceful means against British rule. Recognized as the ‘Father of the Nation’ for his pivotal role in shaping an independent India, Gandhi’s legacy continues to inspire generations.
The somber occasion of January 30 marks the evening when Mahatma Gandhi, during his prayer session at Birla Bhavan in Delhi, fell victim to three gunshots fired by Nathuram Vinayak Godse.
Martyrs’ Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, is observed nationwide on January 30 each year, commemorating the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by individuals for the cause of the nation’s freedom.
