PM Modi to launch Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan at Mumbai University
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to digitally launch the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) through video conferencing at the Sir Kawasji Jahangir Convocation Hall of Mumbai University today.
Mumbai University, in an official press release, announced the approval of a substantial grant of 20 crore rupees for infrastructure and educational development. The funds are aimed at bolstering the higher education sector in the country, enhancing infrastructural facilities, and implementing innovative educational activities.
According to Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ravindra Kulkarni, the Pradhan Mantri Uchtar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) will see the implementation of various schemes at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in Kalyan and Thane sub-campus, as well as the Kalina Complex. The approved grant will cover initiatives such as the construction of a new girl’s hostel in the Kalina complex, a volleyball ground in the Thane suburb, a tennis ground, a solar power generation system, a protective wall, entrance beautification, internal roads, rainwater harvesting, modernization of the incubation center in the Kalina complex, and special projects in artificial intelligence in the allied health sector.
Professor Kulkarni highlighted the strategic focus on emerging sectors like health services and machine learning, with a special emphasis on leveraging artificial intelligence.
