CEA honours India’s linemen for powering the nation
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), under the Ministry of Power, is preparing to host the fourth edition of ‘Lineman Diwas’ in New Delhi on March 4. The annual event is dedicated to honouring the linemen and ground maintenance staff who play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted electricity distribution across the nation.
Themed ‘Seva, Suraksha, Swabhiman’ (Service, Safety, Dignity), this year’s celebration highlights the selfless service of linemen and their commitment to illuminating every corner of the country. In collaboration with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), the CEA aims to establish Lineman Diwas as a nationwide tradition, recognizing frontline workers in both state and private transmission and distribution companies.
Linemen from over 100 transmission and distribution companies across India, including states like Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, among others, have been invited to participate in the event. The celebration is expected to boost morale among these essential workers, providing a platform to share experiences, discuss challenges, and exchange safety best practices.
Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson of CEA, commended the indispensable role of linemen in driving the nation’s progress. He emphasized their meticulous efforts in promptly restoring power supply during emergencies, maintaining power lines, and facilitating new connections. Expressing pride in partnering with Tata Power-DDL, Prasad highlighted the dedication of these frontline heroes.
Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of recognizing and appreciating the unwavering efforts of linemen. He emphasized the need to prioritize the safety and well-being of these frontline workers, who tirelessly serve communities across the country.

As the fourth edition approaches, the event continues to symbolize gratitude and appreciation for the unsung heroes of the power sector.
