India & Vietnam explore trade and business ties in infra, logistics
Both sides held talks on investment opportunities in various sectors including logistics facilities, air cargo, container shipping, maritime, etc.
Vietnam and India both explored the opportunities especially in infrastructure and logistic sector. Members of delegation with Indian participants discussed about the growing market in Vietnamese and how it is important for Vietnam to be part of India’s growth story.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) hosted a delegation from Vietnam to promote bilateral cooperation in the infrastructure and logistics sector. This delegation is a follow up to Indian delegation that visited Vietnam in March,2023.
Coming on a 5-day visit, Vietnamese delegation and Indian side made efforts to promote bilateral cooperation between both the countries. Sessions and discussions started from 31st July itself. Both nations discussed the trade opportunities in industrial parks; logistics parks across different States. Important discussion took place for a potential direct shipping route between India and Vietnam. Presentations from officials from Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka focused on highlighting the key developments and investment opportunities in respective states.
For instance, Haryana’s Integrated Multi Modal Logistic Hub offers investors an opportunity to partner as project concessionaire for building and operating internal infrastructure. Similarly. A collaboration can be sought in Multimodal logistic Hub (MMLH) Dadri, Mega Food Park, Bareill, etc. in Uttar Pradesh.

Around 80 participants including Vietnamese delegates from various logistics and supply chain companies and associations took part in these sessions.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Sh. Som Parkash addressed the event. In his address, he stated that these bilateral interactions will foster collaboration and foreign investments.
Both countries had fruitful discussions and highlighted the key areas where opportunities lie for both sides. Participants stressed on modernisation and monetization in the infrastructure sector.
Consul General of India in Vietnam, Madan Mohan Sethi, reiterated the commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral trade and investment. He invited Indian entrepreneurs to explore trade and investment opportunities in Vietnam.
