Swapnil Kusale pockets bronze in Olympic shooting, takes India’s medal tally to three
India shooter Swapnil Kusale won the bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3P event at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Thursday.
Kusale clinched the bronze medal for India in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men’s Final after finishing in third place with an aggregate of 451.4.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his official X handle and hailed Swapnil Kusale’s performance and said that it is special because he’s shown great resilience and skills.
“Exceptional performance by Swapnil Kusale! Congrats to him for winning the Bronze medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the #ParisOlympics2024. His performance is special because he’s shown great resilience and skills. He is also the first Indian athlete to win a medal in this category. Every Indian is filled with happiness,” PM Modi wrote on X.
With this, Swapnil has now become the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. This is also the first time that the Indian shooting contingent have won three medals in a single edition of any Olympics.
