Amit Shah hails Gujarat for passing Uniform Civil Code Bill, calls it a historic step

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, on Wednesday congratulated Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, along with all legislators who supported the passage of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in the state.

In a post on X, Shah reiterated that ensuring a uniform law for every citizen has been a core commitment of the party since its inception. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, state governments led by the party are consistently advancing in this direction. Expressing satisfaction over the latest development, Shah said that after Uttarakhand, Gujarat has now demonstrated its resolve by accomplishing the “historic task” of passing the Uniform Civil Code Bill.

Congratulating Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and all supporting legislators, Shah emphasised that governance in the country should not be based on appeasement but on equal laws for all citizens. He underlined that this principle remains both a priority and a firm commitment of the government.
