IND vs BAN, 1st Test: India take 227-run first innings lead as visitors skittled out for 149

By: Aditya Ahuja

India’s pace ace Jasprit Bumrah led the charge with four wickets as Bangladesh were skittled out for 149 on Day 2 of the first Test in Chennai, giving India a mammoth 227-run lead.

Despite a gritty 32 from former captain Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh collapsed in response to India’s first-innings total of 376.

Akash Deep also impressed with two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.

Bangladesh fell short of the follow-on target, and it remains to be seen whether India enforces the follow-on or opts to bat again.

More to follow.
