PM Modi arrives in Brazil for G20 Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday as part of his three-nation tour to attend the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit.

The prime minister was warmly welcomed by a delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Brazil, Suresh Reddy.

In a post on X, the PM expressed his enthusiasm for the Summit, stating:

“Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the Summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders.”

He also shared photos capturing his arrival and reception at the airport.

Before arriving in Brazil, PM Modi concluded his visit to Nigeria, where he engaged in discussions with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Their talks focused on strengthening partnerships in defence, technology, health, and education. They also agreed to collaborate on addressing the developmental aspirations of the Global South. Additionally, India pledged 20 tons of humanitarian aid to support Nigeria’s flood relief efforts.

After the summit, India is expected to play a key role in shaping the agenda, building on the momentum from its G20 Presidency last year. Brazil aims to continue prioritizing issues relevant to the Global South, ensuring continuity and progress on critical topics.

PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to advancing these priorities, saying:

“In Brazil, I will attend the 19th G20 Summit as a Troika member. Last year, India’s successful Presidency elevated the G20 to a people-centric forum and integrated Global South priorities into its agenda. This year, Brazil has built on India’s legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions aligned with our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’ I will also take this opportunity to explore ways to deepen bilateral cooperation with other leaders.
