Nepal-India border security talks focus on third-country nationals’ illegal entry

A high-level meeting on Nepal-India border security coordination commenced in Kathmandu and will continue until Monday. The discussions focus on managing cross-border crime and preventing the illegal entry of third-country nationals. Nepal has proposed measures to enhance crime control in border regions, improve information exchange, and address issues such as revenue leakage, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and the unauthorized entry of third-country citizens.

The Indian delegation, led by Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Amrit Mohan Prasad, includes six senior officials. They are engaging with a Nepali team comprising high-ranking officials, including Armed Police Force (APF) Chief Aryal and representatives from Nepal’s Home Ministry, National Investigation Department, Survey Department, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Sunday, the Indian delegation met Nepal’s Home Minister, Ramesh Lekhak, at Singh Durbar. During the meeting, Minister Lekhak emphasized the need to ensure that citizens crossing the shared border are treated with dignity and respect. Highlighting the centuries-old ties between Nepal and India, he noted that such meetings are pivotal in fostering stronger bilateral relations.
