Guyana, Barbados to confer their top awards to PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vision have been recognised on the global stage through numerous prestigious awards. On Wednesday, Guyana announced that it will present the “Order of Excellence” to PM Modi, bringing the total number of international awards conferred upon him to 19.
Over the past decade, PM Modi has received the highest civilian honours from various countries, reflecting India’s growing influence and his role in strengthening diplomatic ties worldwide. Along with Guyana, Barbados will confer the Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados, while Dominica had previously announced its highest national award, the “Dominica Award of Honour,” for PM Modi.
Awards Conferred by Countries:
1. Saudi Arabia: During his visit in April 2016, PM Modi was conferred the King Abdulaziz Sash, Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honour, by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
2. Afghanistan: In the same year, PM Modi received the State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan, Afghanistan’s highest civilian award.
3. Palestine: In 2018, during his historic visit to Palestine, PM Modi was awarded the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine, the country’s highest honour for foreign dignitaries.
4. United Arab Emirates: The Order of Zayed Award, the UAE’s highest civilian honour, was presented to PM Modi in 2019.
5. Russia: In 2019, Russia bestowed upon PM Modi the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, the nation’s highest civilian honour, during his visit to Moscow.
6. Maldives: The Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin, the Maldives’ highest honour for foreign dignitaries, was awarded to PM Modi in 2019.
7. Bahrain: In the same year, PM Modi was honoured with the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance by Bahrain.
8. United States: In 2020, PM Modi received the prestigious Legion of Merit, awarded by the US government for exceptional meritorious service.
9. Bhutan: In December 2021, during his visit to Bhutan, PM Modi was conferred the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan’s highest civilian decoration.

12. Papua New Guinea: Governor General Sir Bob Dadae of Papua New Guinea conferred upon PM Modi the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu, the nation’s highest honour.
13. Egypt: In June 2023, PM Modi was honoured with the ‘Order of Nile,’ Egypt’s highest state honour, by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
14. France: On 13 July 2023, PM Modi was awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest distinction, by President Emmanuel Macron.
15. Greece: On 25 August 2023, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou of Greece conferred upon PM Modi the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour.
16. Dominica: Ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Africa in November 2024, Dominica announced the Dominica Award of Honour, the country’s highest national award.
17. Nigeria: In November 2024, Nigeria honoured PM Modi with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
