Namdhari Leader and ex PEDA Chairman HS Hanspal Passes Away

New Delhi, December 21, 2024 – Prominent Namdhari leader and former chairman of the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), HS Hanspal, passed away at the age of 86. He breathed his last at Max Hospital in Delhi.

Hanspal had a distinguished political career, serving as the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and representing Punjab in the Rajya Sabha for two terms. A veteran politician with decades of public service, he was known for his contributions to state politics and his strong connection with the Namdhari community.

In 2022, Hanspal joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after resigning from the Indian National Congress, marking a significant shift in his political journey. His move to AAP was seen as an endorsement of the party’s vision for Punjab.

Hanspal’s demise is being mourned by leaders across political parties and the Namdhari community. Tributes have poured in, remembering him as a seasoned leader, a strong advocate for renewable energy through his work with PEDA, and a guiding force in Punjab’s political landscape.

Details about his last rites are awaited, with political leaders and community members expected to gather to pay their respects.
