India hands over academic buildings in Nepal’s Gandaki province under High Impact Project

The school building of Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School in Baglung, Gandaki Province, was constructed with the financial assistance of the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative.

It was formally handed over to the School Management Committee on Tuesday in a ceremony jointly organized by the District Administration and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. Political representatives, government officials, and social workers were also present on the occasion.

The Government of India’s grant under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative was utilized for constructing the school building and other allied facilities. The project was undertaken as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) and implemented through the District Coordination Committee, Baglung.

The newly created infrastructure will play a pivotal role in providing quality education to students at Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School. It will also help foster an improved learning environment and contribute to the overall development of the education sector in the region.

Established in 1958 as a primary school, Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School was upgraded to a lower secondary school in 1968 and further elevated to the secondary level in 1988. The school currently offers education to students from Class 1 to Class 12, with an enrollment of approximately 700 students, 54% of whom are girls.

In Myagdi, campus and hostel buildings for Myagdi Multiple Campus were constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India at a project cost of NPR 27.93 million. These facilities were formally handed over to the Campus Management Committee in Gandaki Province. The grant was used for the construction of campus buildings, including a Humanities block, a Management block, a Girls’ Hostel block, and other allied facilities.

Myagdi Multiple Campus is a community-based institution that offers Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses. The campus currently has around 950 students, 70% of whom are girls.

As close neighbors, India and Nepal share wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the Government of India’s continued support for the Government of Nepal’s efforts to uplift its people by enhancing infrastructure in priority sectors.
