Andhra Pradesh government announces Rs 25 lakh compensation for families of Tirupati stampede victims
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each for the families of the six devotees who tragically died in a stampede at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirupati.
The incident occurred on the Wednesday night, during the distribution of tickets for the Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam event.
Government officials, including Revenue Minister A. Satyaprasad, Home Minister Anita, and others, visited the families of the victims and the injured.
The team assured families of the victims that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the stampede.
The deceased hailed from Visakhapatnam and Narsipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, as well as Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences and ordered a thorough investigation into the tragedy. He assured that steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future, and action will be taken against anyone found negligent.
