PM Modi inaugurates Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, highlights India’s growing auto sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 on Friday, emphasizing the positive outlook for the future of mobility in India. He said that the large turnout at the event reflected the growing optimism surrounding India’s automotive industry, which he described as both “fantastic” and “future-ready.”

Addressing the audience at the Expo, PM Modi said, “In the next 5 to 6 days, a large number of people will visit, and many new vehicles will be launched. This shows the positivity surrounding the future of mobility in India. India’s automotive industry is both fantastic and future-ready.”

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to influential figures in the Indian automotive sector, Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki, for their contributions to the industry. He expressed confidence that their legacies would continue to inspire the mobility sector in India. “Both of these great individuals have made a huge contribution to fulfilling the dreams of India’s middle class and to the growth of India’s auto sector. I am confident that their legacy will continue to inspire the entire mobility sector,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi highlighted the role of India’s youth and its growing aspirations in shaping the automotive sector. He pointed to the sector’s impressive growth, with India’s auto industry expanding by approximately 12 percent in recent years. “With around 25 million vehicles sold annually, this shows how demand is steadily increasing in India. This is why, when it comes to the future of mobility, India is seen with such high hopes,” he added.

The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s efforts to create a sustainable and self-reliant mobility ecosystem. “We are working on a mobility system that supports both the economy and ecology. A system that can reduce our fossil fuel import bill. Therefore, India is focusing on the development of Green Technology, Electric Vehicles (EVs), Hydrogen Fuel, and Biofuels,” he stated.

PM Modi credited the Make in India initiative for the auto industry’s progress and growth, emphasizing its role in boosting exports and creating jobs. He also lauded the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which has helped generate over Rs 2.25 lakh crore in sales and created more than 1.5 lakh direct jobs in the sector.

The event is being held from January 17-22 at three venues: Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, and the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida. The theme of this year’s expo is “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain,” focusing on collaboration, innovation, and sustainable technological advancements within the automotive and mobility sectors.

The event will feature more than nine concurrent shows, over 20 conferences and pavilions, and state sessions to promote policies and initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration between industry and regional stakeholders.
