Netanyahu calls Trump “greatest friend Israel has ever had in White House”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised former US President Donald Trump, calling him the “greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.” He made these remarks during a joint press conference with Trump on Tuesday, after being invited as the first foreign leader to visit the US following Trump’s second-term oath-taking ceremony.

“I’m honored that you (President Trump) invited me to be the first foreign leader to visit the White House in your second term. This is a testament to your friendship and support for the Jewish state and the Jewish people,” Netanyahu said.

Emphasizing Trump’s unwavering backing for Israel, he added, “I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again—you are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House. That’s why the people of Israel have such enormous respect for you.”

Netanyahu also spoke about Israel’s security situation, saying, “Israel has never been stronger, and Iran’s terror axis has never been weaker.” However, he stressed the importance of “finishing the job” to ensure Israel’s security and regional peace.

Regarding Gaza, Netanyahu outlined three key objectives: eliminating Hamas’s military and governing capabilities, securing the release of all Israeli hostages, and ensuring Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.

“To secure our future and bring peace to our region, we have to finish the job. In Gaza, Israel has three goals—destroy Hamas’s military and governing capabilities, secure the release of all our hostages, and ensure that Gaza never again poses a threat to Israel,” he stated.

Netanyahu arrived in the US on Sunday to discuss a Gaza ceasefire agreement and broader Middle East plans with Trump, Al Jazeera reported. He landed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where Israeli flags were visible around the city.

During his visit, Netanyahu is also expected to meet with US military leaders and members of Congress, with discussions set to continue over several days.
