Orleans Masters: Prannoy makes a winning start, adances to round 2

Ace Indian shuttler and World Championships medalist HS Prannoy began his Orleans Masters campaign with a hard-fought victory in the round of 32 on Wednesday.

Prannoy defeated Chinese Taipei’s TW Wang 21-11, 20-22, 21-9, as per the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour website.

Ayush Shetty also advanced to the next round with a straight-game win over Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew, securing a 21-17, 21-9 victory.

However, Kiran George faced a setback, losing his men’s singles round of 32 match to Singapore’s J Teh 15-21, 21-16, 21-10.

In women’s singles, Malvika Bansod suffered an injury and had to give a walkover to Japan’s Riko Gunji. Meanwhile, Unnati Hooda was defeated by South Korea’s An SY 21-9, 21-15 in the round of 32.

The Orleans Masters, which began on Tuesday, will continue until March 9.
