Exceptional game, exceptional result: PM Modi congratulates Team India for Champions Trophy glory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Team India on winning the Champions Trophy 2025 by four wickets against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. The ‘Men in Blue’ clinched the title for a record third time.

Minutes after Ravindra Jadeja executed a perfect pull shot behind square leg at the Dubai International Stadium, PM Modi congratulated the Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma. He lauded their “splendid performance” throughout the tournament.

“An exceptional game and an exceptional result! Proud of our cricket team for bringing home the ICC Champions Trophy. They’ve played wonderfully through the tournament. Congratulations to our team for the splendid all-around display,” the PM said in a post on X.

With this victory, India set a new record with their third Champions Trophy title, surpassing Australia, and adding to their victories in 2002 (shared with Sri Lanka) and 2013.

The win comes a mere eight months after Rohit led the Indian team to their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados, continuing their superb form in ICC white-ball events. Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, India have played 23 matches in three back-to-back ICC limited-overs tournaments, with only one defeat — in the CWC final against Australia.
