Star-studded para-badminton line-up inspires crowd as Khelo India Para Games 2025 kick off

The first day of the Khelo India Para Games 2025 (KIPG 2025) kicked off with exciting para-badminton action at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.

With 2024 Paralympics heroes Nitesh Kumar, Manisha Ramdass, and Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Krishna Nagar in action on Thursday, there was an electrifying buzz in the air as sporting action unfolded, according to a press release.

Krishna Nagar began his campaign in the preliminary stages, securing an easy quarter-final qualification with a straight-games victory against Bonta Goutham Narasimhudu, as per a release from SAI Media.

Nitesh Kumar entered the court to much fanfare, drawing attention from fans and media alike. The Haryana athlete continued his dominant form, securing a commanding 2-0 victory over Hemant Kumar Thakur to advance further in the tournament.

Speaking about the importance of the Khelo India Para Games 2025, Nitesh said:

“My participation in this tournament is mainly to contribute to the sport that has given me so much—not just in terms of success but also in building my confidence beyond sports.”

With 69 matches held throughout the day, badminton fans were treated to thrilling action. Following the Opening Ceremony, matches resumed at the Gymnastics Hall at IG Stadium, where 2024 Paralympics bronze medallist Manisha Ramdass faced Vaishali Nilesh Patel in the quarter-finals. Manisha delivered a dominant performance, securing an emphatic win and ensuring smooth progress for the tournament’s top contenders.
