GeM facilitates hiring of over 1 million resources in FY 2024-25, PM Modi lauds platform’s impact

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a significant milestone by facilitating the hiring of over 1 million manpower resources by government organizations in the current fiscal year (2024-25), according to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Recognizing GeM’s contribution to employment generation and economic growth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the platform’s impact. Responding to a post by Union Minister Piyush Goyal on social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated: “Commendable feat, ensuring a boost in livelihoods, driving grassroots employment and economic growth across India.”

The manpower outsourcing service on GeM offers government buyers a seamless solution to hire resources, with over 33,000 service providers offering a wide range of skilled and unskilled personnel, including Security Personnel, Horticulture Staff, Multi-Tasking Staff, Data Entry Operators, and Facility Management Professionals. The platform ensures compliance with labour laws and statutory regulations, making it a trusted tool for government procurement.

Ajay Bhadoo, CEO of GeM, highlighted the platform’s digital capabilities, stating, “GeM has emerged as a one-stop solution for government procurement at various administrative levels. Our manpower outsourcing service not only simplifies hiring but also ensures strict labour compliance through a comprehensive Service Level Agreement.”

Established in 2016, GeM has evolved into an end-to-end digital public procurement platform, expanding its portfolio to include over 330 services, such as drone services, AR/VR solutions, cloud computing, and cybersecurity services. The platform initially offered basic services like manpower hiring, cab services, security, and sanitation, but has since expanded to meet evolving government needs.
