Bangladesh: Largest number of people on work permit from China

The largest number of foreigners working in Bangladesh are from China, followed by India. A total of 20,988 people are currently working in Bangladesh from foreign countries on work permits, informed Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal during a question answer session in parliament on Tuesday.

Home Minister Kamal said that a total of 6075 Chinese, 5876 Indians, 2468 Russians, 1246 Sri Lankans, 924 South Koreans, 557 Japanese, 416 Pakistanis, 460 Philippinos, 399 Thais, 378 Belarussians, 269 Kazakhs, 168 Americans, 139 Koreans, 123 Malaysians and 108 Indonesians are among the people from 115 countries working in Bangladesh.

The foreigners are working in development projects, NGOs, Industries and other organisations in Bangladesh, said Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
