Heat wave conditions abating, heavy rain alert in several parts

Very heavy to extremely heavy falls over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are very likely to continue during next 2 days and decrease gradually thereafter.

Heat Wave conditions over East India and adjoining areas are likely to abate gradually from Tuesday onwards. Well marked low pressure area, caused by remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘Biparjoy’, over central parts of Northeast Rajasthan, is being seen. Moreover, conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south peninsular India, some parts of Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days. In the meantime, very heavy to extremely heavy falls over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are very likely to continue during next 2 days and decrease gradually thereafter.

Due to the impact of cyclone ‘Biparjoy’, an alert has been issued for heavy rains in several districts of Madhya Pradesh including Gwalior and Chambal divisions on Tuesday. A few other states may also experience similar situations.

For MP, the Meteorological Department has forecast more than 4 inches of rain in eight districts, including Gwalior-Shivpuri, within 24 hours. At the same time, the weather will remain bad in Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Rajgarh, adjacent to Rajasthan. There may be heavy rains during the day in Bhopal city, while there may be thunderstorms in Indore, Jabalpur, and Ujjain.

According to the HS, senior meteorologist HS Pandey said that the Biparjoy storm has more impact in the Gwalior-Chambal division. An alert for heavy rain has been issued here from June 19 to 21. Heavy rains may occur in Gwalior, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, and Sheopurkalan on Tuesday. Similar weather will prevail here on June 21 as well.

There is a possibility of heavy rains in Vidisha and Raisen on June 21. Apart from this, rain may also occur in Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Narmadapuram, Dhar and Betul. Whereas, it will be cloudy in Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, and Indore. The wind speed will be high here. In some districts, it may be 50 km or more.

It rained on Monday as well. On Monday, the effect of the “Biparjoy’ storm was seen in the state. By evening, more than 33 mm, i.e., more than 1.25 inches of water, had rained in Piparsama, Shivpuri. The city received about an inch of rain. It also rained in Ashoknagar, Guna, Gwalior, Vidisha, Shivpuri, Sehore, and Bhopal.

With the change of season, the maximum temperature has also declined. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain changeable in the capital, Bhopal for the next four days. There is a possibility of heavy rain on June 20 and 21, while light rain may occur on June 22. It is expected to rain with thunder and lightning on June 23.
