International Day of Yoga celebrated across the country
The National celebration of 9th International Day of Yoga 2023 was led by Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar on 21st June at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
The 9th International Day of Yoga 2023 was celebrated across the country and the world by lakhs of people. From the President of India to Vice-President of the country, to central ministers, chief ministers and people in general, all participated in the functions organized in different parts of the country with full fervor. The National celebration of 9th International Day of Yoga 2023 was led by Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar on 21st June at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, who termed it as zero-budget health assurance.
On this occasion, Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, MoS for Ayush Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai and several State Dignitaries were present and performed Common Yoga Protocol. About 15,000 people participated in the main event. This year’s theme of IDY is ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which indicates the Indian socio-cultural heritage.
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare marked the 9th International Yoga Day celebration by leading a mass yoga demonstration with hundreds of participants in AIIMS, New Delhi. The minister said “Yoga is an ancient tradition of India but with time, its practice started to decline.
Highlighting the benefits of doing Yoga in everyday life, Dr Mandaviya said “Yoga helps calm the mind and energize the body. Whenever we talk about health and wellness, Yoga comes to our mind. It is a kind of preventive care as it builds immunity in the body.”
Embracing the spirit of unity and well-being, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh performed Yoga with the personnel of the Armed Forces & the Indian Coast Guard onboard India’s indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on the occasion of 9th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2023.
Singh appealed to the people to include Yoga in their daily routine as it unites the body with the mind, besides connecting a human being with nature and the divine, while acting as a stepping stone to achieve spiritual consciousness. He described Yoga as an equivalent to ‘Amrit’ which paves the way for physical, mental & spiritual well-being and opens up numerous possibilities for nurturing the mind, body & soul, while offering holistic healing at a deeper level in the day-to-day lives of the people.
Union Minister Smriti Irani celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day by performing yoga at an indoor stadium in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. “The countrymen are doing yoga because of the Prime Minister’s inspiration. With this event, India’s culture is reaching out to the rest of the globe. Yoga practise should not be limited to a single day, but should be done on a regular basis. With relentless efforts, I have resolved to practice it on a daily basis in order to appear fit,” she stated.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda attended the International Yoga Day celebrations at Gurugram’s Tau Devi Lal Stadium. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also practiced yoga at Haridwar. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Ayush Minister Sarbanand Sonowal would do yoga at Jabalpur’s military ground.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged the people of the state to embrace yoga in a significant way. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in the yoga programme organized at Dhubri on Wednesday morning on International Yoga Day.
