Yoga is a gift of India to the world & a unifying force: High Commissioner Pranay Verma
Prominent people from Bangladesh including film celebrities like Chanchal Chowdhury, Bidya Sinha Saha Mim, Tasnia Farin, Sohana Saba among others were part of the grand Yoga Day celebration in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Yoga is the gift of India to the world and is an integral part of the shared cultural heritage of India and Bangladesh, said High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma. Addressing hundreds of Yoga enthusiasts assembled at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium, Mirpur, in Dhaka on the occasion of International Yoga Day, High Commissioner Pranay Verma said that Yoga can serve as a unifying force, promoting physical and mental well-being among the people of India and Bangladesh.
Yoga practitioners and enthusiasts gathered in large numbers at the venue to take part in the event. Some of the prominent people from Bangladesh including the film celebrities like Chanchal Chowdhury, Bidya Sinha Saha Mim, Tasnia Farin, Sohana Saba among others were part of the grand Yoga Day celebration in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The event featured yoga performances led by yoga practitioners and experts. Participants had the opportunity to engage in different yoga practices, enhancing their understanding of this ancient discipline and its transformative effects.
The Yoga Day programme was also held at the Hamdard University of Dhaka and many other places in the city. The Gandhi Ashram at Jamalpur also organised the International Yoga Day programme on 21 June. Assistant High Commissions of India in Sylhet, Rajshahi Khulna and Chattogram also held Yoga related events over the week leading to the IYD on 21 June.
In fact, the events relating to International Yoga Day started taking place in Bangladesh more than two weeks back when Yoga organisations organised big and small events in the run up to the main event on 21st June.
There are many other Yoga Day related events scheduled to be held over the coming week across Bangladesh as people show great attraction to Yoga in this country.
