13,287 vacancies filled in central higher educational institutions in 10 months’
The creation and filling of vacancies is a continuous process. Vacancies arise due to additional requirements resulting from retirement, resignation, and an increased number of students.
A total of 13,287 vacancies have been filled in Central Higher Educational Institutions (CHEIs) in a span of just 10 months under the Mission Recruitment Drive. The union Ministry of Education has informed Parliament on Monday.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Subhash Sarkar, gave this information in a written reply to a question asked in the Lok Sabha regarding the vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff in Central Universities.
He informed that the Ministry of Education has directed all the Central Higher Educational Institutions (CHEIs) to fill up the vacancies in mission mode. A total of 13,287 vacancies have been filled in CHEI in just a span of 10 months under the mission recruitment drive until July 27, 2023.
He informed that Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the Ministry of Education are statutory autonomous organisations established under the respective Central Acts of Parliament and are governed by the provisions of the Acts, Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations made thereunder.
The creation and filling of vacancies is a continuous process. Vacancies arise due to additional requirements resulting from retirement, resignation, and an increased number of students. State universities are established through respective State acts, and vacancies in them are filled by the respective state governments and universities themselves. The details of vacancies at State Universities are not maintained at the central level.
