India Post to offer national flags at 1.6 lakh post offices for Har Ghar Tiranga event

The Ministry of Culture explained that this campaign had two main purposes- to rejoice in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav event and to nurture a feeling of nationalism among the people.

This year, from 13th to 15th August 2023, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is back. The vast physical network of 1.6 lakh post offices in the country would be used to sell it. The citizens will be able to buy the Indian flag from their nearby post office, soon. They can also buy the flag online using the ePostOffice facility of the department (www.epostoffice.gov.in).

The Post Office is also planning special events to tell people about the campaign’s importance through Jan Bhagidari events. Citizens can put up the Indian flag at their homes or work, take a picture and share it on social media with hashtags like #IndiaPost4Tiranga, #HarGharTiranga, and #HarDilTiranga.

Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign

Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced two massive campaigns to celebrate India’s 75 years of independence. One was the grand celebration of India’s independence, called Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. “Har Ghar Tiranga” was a sub-campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The aim was to inspire people to bring the Indian flag to their homes and raise it to celebrate 75 years of independence. Modi introduced the campaign in July, 2022.

This campaign was a huge hit as around 23 crore homes flew the Indian flag, and 6 crore people shared their flag selfies on the HGT website. The Department of Posts (DoP) played a big role in making this happen. They made sure that the Indian flag reached every corner of the country, even in the farthest places.
