Riding the Threads of Heritage: A South Asian Cultural Motorcycle Expedition Uniting India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka
In a bid to promote cultural tourism and strengthen ties among three South Asian nations, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, a motorcycle expedition is planned along places of cultural heritage in the sub continent.
Armed forces of all three nations and youth will participate in the expedition. The journey, set to kick off in December this year, will commence at Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha in Nepal, and traverse through significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India.
The exciting route will take the expedition through iconic destinations such as Kusinara, Bodhgaya, Shavastri, Saranath, and Sankassa, all of which hold deep historical and religious significance. Crossing into South India, the adventurers will embark on a ferry journey from Rameswaram to Mannar which will be coordinated by the Indian Navy before reaching their final destination in Colombo.
The organisers met Sri Lanka Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena today who pledged the government’s full support for this unique cycling expedition.
