Novak Djokovic advances to fourth round in US Open beating compatriot Laslo Djere

In US Open tennis, three-time winner Novak Djokovic has survived a massive scare to keep his quest for history alive at the tournament, as he registered a hard-fought win against compatriot Laslo Djere. The three-time US Open champion was forced to come from two sets to love down against his fellow Serb and achieved a 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 victory in an absorbing battle inside Arthur Ash Stadium. With this win, Djokovic entered the fourth round of the tournament.

The 36-year-old Serbian is playing in New York for the first time since 2021. He had to miss last year’s edition as the US did not allow entry to international travellers who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. That restriction was removed in May this year.
