Asian Games: Indian athelets in action in Cricket, Rowing, Sailing and Football at Hangzhou in China
India will start its campaigns in women’s cricket, sailing and rowing at the Hangzhou Asian Games today in China. The men’s and women’s rowing teams will attempt to build on their excellent performance in the Repechage round in a bid to qualify for the finals.
A 16-member Indian sailing team will look to make waves at the Hangzhou games. The sailing events – one of the events India has set its medal hopes on – will conclude on September 27. The Asian Games 2023 will also serve as qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics sailing events.
The Indian women’s cricket team, which is playing at the Asian Games for the first time, will be eyeing a winning start to their campaign against a lightweight opponent in the form of Malaysia. The match is being played at Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field in Hangzhou.
Indian women’s and men’s football teams will also be in action today. While the men will take on Bangladesh, the women are set to play Chinese Taipei.
