PM Modi, President Murmu pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with President Drapaudi Murmu paid floral tributes to the ‘Father of the Nation’, Mahatma Gandhi. at Rajghat, on his 154th birth anniversary.

The PM also led the tributes for Mahatma Gandhi on social media saying that Gandhi’s impact is “global” and “motivating the entire humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion”.

“I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster be the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In her message, President Droupadi Murmu said, Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of truth and non-violence paved a new way for the world. She added, Mahatma Gandhi not only fought for non-violence throughout his life but he also took up the cause of cleanliness, women empowerment, self-reliance and farmers rights and fought against untouchability, social discrimination and illiteracy.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

The nation is also remembering former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary today. Prime Minister Modi visited Vijay Ghat, the memorial of Lal Bahadur Shastri in the national capital, to pay him floral tributes.
