Rajnath Singh meets CEOs of top French defence companies in Paris

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is in Europe where he visited Safran engine division’s research and development (R&D) centre in Paris, France on October 11th, 2023.

Global CEO of Safran, Olivier Andries welcomed the minister and provided a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments. Safran expressed a keen interest in contributing to India’s growth story by collaborating on mutually agreed joint projects.

Defence minister discussion’s with the CEOs of leading French defence companies, with a primary focus on plans for collaboration with India. The meeting included Eric Trappier CEO of Dassault, Pierre Eric Pommellet CEO of Naval Group, and Olivier Andries CEO of Safran Group. In the meeting Rajnath Singh emphasized the benefits of co-development and co-production in India, including the potential for exports to foreign nations. He emphasized India’s inherent advantages, such competent human resources base, world-class infrastructure, and a robust legal framework.

Rajnath Singh also held the 5th Annual Defence Dialogue with his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu where he discussed defence cooperation between both the nations.

Singh arrived in Paris on October 10 and met with members of the Indian community. He addressed to the large Indian community at India house. He highlighted India’s various achievements in defence sector, including increased defence exports, increased indigenous production of defence equipment, concerted efforts on co-development and co-production in India, and increased regional outreach. The defence minister spoke on India’s amazing growth over the last nine years, an assessment that received enthusiastic support from the Indian community.
