India’s Shubman Gill has clinched the top spot in the ICC men’s ODI rankings, displacing Pakistan’s Babar Azam from the coveted position. Gill’s remarkable feat places him among the elite ranks of Indian cricketing legends, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli, as the fourth Indian player to hold the No.1 ODI batting ranking.

Shubman Gill is currently part of the Indian cricket World Cup squad, where he has consistently delivered exceptional performances. In a recent match against Sri Lanka, Gill showcased his prowess by amassing 92 runs, contributing to his overall tally of 219 runs from six innings in the tournament.

Babar Azam of Pakistan, who has held the No.1 ranking for over two years, now finds himself trailing behind Gill. Azam has accumulated a total of 282 runs from eight innings at the World Cup, placing him six rating points below Gill.

India’s dominance in the ODI bowler rankings is evident, with four Indian players occupying positions within the top 10, reflecting the team’s outstanding performance at the World Cup.

Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer made an impressive leap of 17 places to secure the 18th position in the overall ODI batting rankings, while Pakistan’s opener, Fakhar Zaman, climbed three spots to 11th, and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran rose by six places to the 12th position.
