PM SHRI schools launched in UP for educational infrastructure boost

Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath jointly inaugurated the PM SHRI Schools in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant step towards enhancing the educational infrastructure in the state.

The event, held in Lucknow, saw participation from 928 locations virtually, and the dignitaries took the opportunity to explore an exhibition organized by school children.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister acknowledged the government’s commitment to providing world-class education by focusing on school infrastructure. The upgradation and modernization of over 1000 schools under the PM-SHRI initiative in the state align with this vision.

Pradhan praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for promptly implementing the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the state over the last three years. The PM SHRI scheme covers 928 government schools in the first phase, including 81 Kendriya/Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Pradhan emphasized the global potential of NEP 2020 as a philosophical document.

Highlighting the significance of Uttar Pradesh in realizing the goal of “Viksit Bharat by 2047,” Pradhan said that nearly 20% of the country’s 26 crore students hail from the state. He praised the success of students from the state’s Navodaya Vidyala in competitive exams like IIT, Government Medical Colleges, and NIT without any coaching.

Yogi Adityanath announced that 1753 schools have been selected for upgradation as PM SHRI Schools across the state. The improvements include Baalvatika, smart classrooms, science laboratories, digital libraries, and sports facilities, aiming to create integrated campuses for holistic school education.

PM SHRI School, a centrally sponsored initiative by the Government of India, aims to establish over 14,500 schools under Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies, including KVS and NVS. The program strives to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment with comprehensive facilities for every student.
