132 Padma Awards unveiled across diverse fields
In a significant announcement on Republic Day, the Padma Awards, prestigious civilian honors, were unveiled, recognizing exemplary contributions across various domains.
The awards, bestowed in categories of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, cover fields like art, social work, public affairs, and more.
President of India, in ceremonial functions at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March/April, confers these honors. The 2024 list includes 132 awards, including 2 duo cases, acknowledging outstanding individuals. Notably, 30 women, 8 from the Foreigner/NRI/PIO/OCI category, and 9 Posthumous awardees contribute to the diverse array of recipients.
Among the Padma Vibhushan awardees are Vyjayantimala Bali for Art and M Venkaiah Naidu for Public Affairs. The Padma Bhushan category features luminaries like M Fathima Beevi (Posthumous) for Public Affairs and Mithun Chakraborty for Art. The extensive list of Padma Shri recipients, numbering 110, encompasses talents, including Fred Negrit for Literature & Education, enriching the accolades with global contributions.
