75th Republic Day of India celebrated in Dhaka, Bangladesh with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the High Commission of India.
Members of the Indian community took part in large numbers in the celebrations at the Chancery building.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma unfurled the national flag. He read out excerpts from the President’s address to the nation delivered on the eve of the Republic Day.
The high Commissioner welcomed the Indian community and greeted them on the occasion. It was followed by patriotic songs performed by the members of the Indian community in Dhaka.
Earlier on Wednesday, the High Commission of India in Bangladesh held a grand reception at the International Convention Centre,Dhaka to mark the celebration of 75th Republic day of India. On the occasion, the Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was the chief guest. A large number of foreign diplomats, ministers and parliamentarians, media and eminent persons from Bangladesh joined in the celebration.
The Assistant High Commissions (AHC) of India in Sylhet, Khulna, Chattogram and Rajshahi also celebrated the Republic day.
