PM Modi to unveil development projects worth Rs 35,700 crore in Jharkhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar on March 1 to 2.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading to Jharkhand and West Bengal on Friday to kick off various development projects in both states.

Starting in Sindri, located in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, PM Modi will launch several development initiatives focused on fertilizer, rail, power, and coal sectors, collectively valued at Rs 35,700 crore.

One notable project is the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant, developed at a cost of Rs 8900 crore. The plant aims to boost indigenous urea production by about 12.7 LMT per annum, benefiting farmers across the country. It’s the third fertilizer plant revived in India, following similar efforts in Gorakhpur and Ramagundam.

Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate several railway projects in Jharkhand worth more than Rs 17,600 crore, including the expansion of railway lines and new routes like the Sone Nagar-Andal line and the Mohanpur-Hansdiha line. These projects are expected to enhance rail services and spur socio-economic growth in the region. He’ll also flag off three new trains during the event, including Deoghar – Dibrugarh train service, MEMU Train Service between Tatanagar and Badampahar (Daily) and long-haul freight train from the Shivpur station.

Furthermore, PM Modi will also inaugurate power projects, including Unit 1 of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Chatra. Developed at a cost of about Rs 7500 crore, the project is expected to enhance power supply, generate employment, and foster development in the state. There will also be initiatives in the coal sector.

Later in the day, PM Modi will head to Arambagh in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, where he’ll inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for several development projects valued at over Rs 7,200 crore.
