India’s qualification pushes Champions Trophy final out of Pakistan

India’s triumph over Australia on Wednesday ensured their place in the Champions Trophy final, which will now be held in Dubai instead of Pakistan.
Political tensions between Pakistan and India led to the tournament favorites refusing to play their matches in the host country.
Ahead of the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had decided that the venues for the semifinals and final would be determined based on India’s participation. As a result, India has played all its matches in the United Arab Emirates and will now contest the final there as well.
India stormed into their third consecutive Champions Trophy final with a four-wicket victory over Australia. They will now await the winner of the New Zealand vs. South Africa semifinal, set for Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
India defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the group stage before overcoming Australia in the knockout clash.
The final will be held on Sunday, 1,200 miles away from the originally planned venue in Lahore.
