PM Modi arrives in Uttarakhand, offers prayers at Mukhwa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Jolly Grant Airport in Uttarakhand on Thursday, where he was welcomed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

PM Modi performed pooja and darshan in Mukhwa at around 9:30 am. At 10:40 am, he will flag off a trek and bike rally and address a public gathering in Harsil.

In a post on X CM Dhami said, “Hearty welcome and greetings to the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji on his arrival in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, the holy land of religion, spirituality, and sacrifice. All of us residents of the state are eager to welcome the respected Prime Minister on the land full of spiritual and natural beauty of Mukhwa-Harsil (Uttarkashi).”

Ahead of the public meeting, large crowds gathered in anticipation of PM Modi and CM Dhami’s address in Harsil.

Before his visit, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to boosting tourism in Uttarakhand. “We are committed to further strengthen the economy of the state by promoting tourism in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. In this connection, I will get the opportunity to worship Maa Ganga in Mukhwa tomorrow morning at around 9:30 am. After this, I will communicate with my family members in Harshil,” he posted on X.

The Uttarakhand government has launched a Winter Tourism programme aimed at promoting religious tourism and boosting the local economy. Thousands of devotees have already visited the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The initiative focuses on encouraging homestays, tourism-related businesses, and economic growth in the region.
